Description

The Italian company Montegrappa has been providing you with comfort and satisfaction since 1912 with such original and luxurious products as the undoubtedly limited collections of Montegrappa.

This time, we would like to introduce you to the collection - La Traviata – an opera by Giuseppe Verdi from 1853, based on A. Dumas's The Lady of the Camellias. It brought its author fame during its debut at the Fenice Opera House in Venice on 06.03.1853 and inspired Montegrappa to create another writing instrument in its limited collection "Emozioni in Musica". The incredible character of Violetta - the opera's heroine - is precisely depicted on the pen's body. Her face is crafted in (depending on the version) solid silver (925) or gold (18K). The cap's top is adorned with a camellia flower, which Violetta always wore in her bodice (part of the dress) to highlight her beautiful face.

The delicately contoured cap is decorated with a red celluloid ring, which in the more precious version is crafted as a diadem with 12 diamonds. The clip features typical 18th-century ornamentation - from the period in which the opera is set. The clip of the gold version of the pen with precious stones is adorned with pavé diamonds and two diamonds on the sides. The technique used for the camellia engravings on the body is called low-relief engraving. In the centre of the body, amidst the decorations, is the extraordinary face of Violetta. For the Silver version, the engraving was done using the burin engraving technique. An ancient technique that only a few artists worldwide can execute. Exceptional skill is required to apply it flawlessly.

Montegrappa chose solid silver (925) for crafting this pen. The rest of the pen is made from celluloid characterised by a red colour, which has always been associated with passion.

The 18K gold nib - made from white gold with decorations in yellow gold in the Silver version, and yellow gold with decorations in white gold in the more precious versions - decorated with the initials "V.V." representing Violetta Valery. Each writing instrument in this series includes decorative packaging, reminiscent of curtains in 18th-century operas. The entire series is crafted with attention to the finest details by world-class master craftsmen.

This rare, precious item expresses the character of the person who acquires it and provides the pleasure of writing and discovering unique emotions. We recommend it!
