Description

The Malabar brand was established in 2012, with the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the World Architects collection of elegant furniture. It has designed and released a total of 5 unique series of furniture and accessories.

Malabar has left its mark at major international fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are top-tier venues to showcase one's work.

Malabar's furniture production originates from the Porto area, a northern region in Portugal, with a long and strong tradition in handcrafted products.

The identity of this prestigious brand is based on the national architectural and artistic heritage of the past 5 centuries. International experience and the pursuit of perfection are the details that set the path for such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted execution, and out-of-this-world design create an explosive mix of luxury furniture. Various techniques of crafting goods from natural wood yield incredible results, as seen in Malabar's unique collections.

An important aspect of the design is the combination of neutral and black colours. Juicy and vivid hues dominate, significantly deviating from classic and template furniture. Besides wood, the manufacturer uses brass, gold and silver leaf, as well as other high-quality raw materials. The Portuguese soul is very colourful and fascinating, clearly visible in the bold furniture designs.

The company's name comes from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the cape. It was the value of original spices that prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a daring sea route. This continues today, as Malabar sets very individual boundaries of design and evokes extreme emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely luxurious.

What raw materials does Malabar use?

The company uses the most exclusive varieties of wood. These include: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, elm, basswood, olive wood, bird's eye, variegated, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Additional information Memphis, the Italian design collective whose debut collection caused a sensation at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in 1981, was a violent rejection of sensible modernism. Inspired by the very famous artistic movements of the past, Art Deco and Pop Art Style, Memphis' Group was born. Known for its bright and bold furniture design style, Memphis inspires artists and becomes a trend in interiors and furniture. In tribute to Ettore Sottsass, the rule-breaking creators of Malabar designed this versatile work of art. If you're wondering whether it's a bookcase, a room divider, or a piece of art, well, that's the point. With its rich palette and mixture of Verde Guatemala and Rosso Levanto marbles, polished and brushed brass and walnut, black-stained ash wood and Tanganyika leaf wood, this handcrafted chest of drawers is like a sketch of the Memphis DNA infusion. The Sketch chest of drawers will bring a lot of joy to the decor of your space
