Description
Historical sabre of the rural guard's equipment. Model developed in collaboration with the National Federation of Country Guards.
From the First Empire to the reign of Louis Philippe, several hundred thousand units of the Mle An XI lighter were produced. It would equip the Grande Armée. After 1831, it was replaced by the model sword of 1831. It would always be worn by some urban National Guards until the eve of the 1870 war. Finally, we find it on the eve of the Great War, gracing the hips of our rural Guard tracking poachers and illegal distillers.
The Balp brand was established in 1830, in reference to the finest French weapon forges. Its reputation and top-quality production spread throughout France and beyond its borders. Subsequent generations wished to uphold the tradition and know-how.
Therefore, we have the pleasure and honour to present to you the company BALP, which remains a benchmark of quality. Their team, with experience derived from four generations of forging tradition, guarantees true expertise in their products. The development of the BALP brand is also part of a changing world, where the know-how of different countries has been combined to offer ceremonial equipment meeting the needs of major armies.
The development of all sabres and swords is based on original models. The brand aims to stand out by returning to traditions consistent with works from the era. Therefore, they wish to present sabres and swords worthy of history.
All BALP sabres, swords, and daggers are hand-forged, in accordance with traditional knowledge passed down from generation to generation. A guarantee of quality, sustained by the passion of highly skilled master forgers.
The brand supplies models to the national navy, ministries of defence, ministries of the interior, as well as for officers of major military schools, such as the National Gendarmerie Officer School, Coëtquidan schools (Saint Cyr, EMIA...), but also schools, ministries, regiments, and military centres in many countries.

| Additional information | Delivered with a quality certificate. Stainless Steel: The main advantage of using stainless steel is, as the name suggests, protection against oxidation. Unlike carbon steel, stainless steel does not require surface treatment to protect against oxidation. All our blades are traditionally forged and hardened. The use of sabers and swords as parade weapons no longer justifies the use of carbon steels, which shorten the life of the blades. 24K Gold Plating: Gold plating is considered the best finish available and provides additional added value. Gold plating is a durable and non-corrosive finish, therefore it protects very well against oxidation. We use electrolytic baths, which allow us to obtain 24-carat gold plating (approximately 99.3 to 99.7% gold). Gold plating is also very resistant to fading over time. |
