Four years later, in 1914, the Kew Observatory has granted this Swiss company the class “A” certificate of precision, which was reserved only for ship timepieces.

Officially the company has moved to Geneva, where it has been registered in 1920 as Montres Rolex. Seven years later it has become an exceptional example of a company, as they decided to advertise their product in an unprecedented way – the young swimmer Mercedes Gleitze has been swimming in a canal, with their watch on his wrist for 10 hours. The watch remained in excellent shape.

To commemorate this fact an advertisement was placed in the first page of the Daily Mail – and it took a whole page. This event meant the birth of the idea of Testimonee.

An independent winding mechanism is also the patent of this Swiss company, and is used in every automatic watch.
