The combination of these two incredibly creative individuals brought a distinctive and fresh perspective to art. They proudly emphasise that Ongaro & Fuga is a centuries-old tradition, through which they revive the magic and elegant Venetian mirrors.

Their talent was inherited by their son Julian, who continues the family traditions. By collaborating with outstanding artists and designers, he creates a bridge to the future. This is a significant nod to family traditions and multi-generational manufactories. Julian believes that every cloud or colourful Italian facade reflected in the waters of the lagoon provides vibrant material for new projects. Many of these majestic mirrors are faithful reproductions of antique pieces. Ongaro & Fuga is part of the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano – an important consortium that is a member of Confartigianato Venezia and Confindustria Venezia. For over twenty years, it has been working tirelessly to strengthen the image of artistic glass to preserve and defend the millennia-old art of Murano glass. This is an extremely important initiative that does a lot of good for cultural heritage. Ongaro and Fuga are proud of the Promovetro certificate for the production of their mirrors in Murano.

What does the production of these famous mirrors look like?

It is an extraordinary product in its essence. The reflection of this beauty is a very long process. A labour of hands, heart, and soul. For this reason, the exquisite mirrors of Ongaro and Fuga come at a price. The work involved often exceeds 100 hours and can consist of thousands of decorative elements. This is true luxury and an example of how strong European family manufactories are. Here, for centuries, it has been the craftsmen who have driven the evolution of the premium industry, deciding with their hands on the final appearance of the product. Everything starts with a drawing on paper. Then the glass is slowly shaped. Using very delicate and smooth diamond grinding stones. Step by step, refining sharp edges and irregularities.
