Description

Fascinating design and attention to the smallest details are the guarantee of the highest quality from Tettau. The "Royal Privileged Porcelain Factory Tettau" has existed for over 200 years, making it the oldest porcelain factory in Bavaria. The great Alexander v. Sam Humboldt fought for its establishment in 1794.

Almost 100 years later, more than 200 employees work here, including turners, annealers, firers, colour painters, and other craftsmen in the production halls.

In 1918, the management appointed Max Wunderlich, who after the Second World War shifted production from inexpensive tableware to exquisite coffee and tea services, which have since been sold worldwide as a true, mostly handmade treasure. However, the company is not satisfied with its past achievements and is constantly driven by the desire to better meet today's demands. With the invention of special hard porcelain, which the company sells under the name Diamant, Königlich Tettau achieved a world novelty in the 2010/2011 season: combining the aesthetics of cream porcelain and soft porcelain with the durability of hard porcelain. Since 1957, the plant has been part of the Seltmann Weiden group.

Relocation of the Royal Privileged Porcelain Factory Tettau

To counteract the ongoing pressure of cheap imports from the Far East, the production, sales, and administration of Königlich priv. Tettau are integrated into the locations of the Seltmann Group in Rudolstadt / Volkstedt and the Erbendorf plant. Through these measures, the management of Seltmann Weiden and Königlich priv. Tettau has credibly ensured the continuation of the production and sale of products under the "Königlich privilegierte Porzellan fabrik Tettau" brand.

Founded in 1910, the "Porzellanfabriken Christian Seltmann" has transformed into a group of enterprises, which continues to be managed as a family business, through the acquisition of the "Königlich Privierte Porzellanfabrik Tettau" with four specialised porcelain factories and an art department established in 1990. In 5 plants, around 1000 employees produce unique porcelain for households, hospitality and gastronomy, mass catering, and incentive programmes. Another aim is the production of particularly valuable sculptures by renowned artists and high-quality gifts.

With the acquisition of the Königlich Tettau porcelain factory and manufactories, the Seltmann Group has over 250 years of experience in porcelain production. The porcelain of the group meets the highest global standards in design, functionality, durability, and exclusivity. It is these product qualities, whose high standard of quality can only be maintained in Germany. In line with this philosophy, the Seltmann Group - as one of the few porcelain manufacturers - maintains all its production facilities in Germany. Seltmann has developed its own "Made in Germany" seal to credibly and sustainably present the company's emphasis on quality and work safety. To maintain the exceptionally high product quality, Königlich Tettau porcelain is largely handmade. The excellent result in design, ergonomics, and functionality can be seen in everyday life - and can always be "grasped"...
