Description
Amazing design
combined with the highest quality raw materials and craftsmanship is synonymous
with the Florence Art brand.
Tradition
In the streets of Florence, one can breathe art, from S. Croce to Ponte Vecchio, and then again among the sculptures
and paintings and furnishings of the Medici villas, a unique city, a territory where artists, as well as
craftsmen, have found their lifeblood for centuries. The Florence Art brand was born in 1950
from this tradition, the manual skills of Tuscan workers, from a love of art and beauty, from a passion for
classics and what made this territory great. It was born as a sculptural workshop and has always been a production brand, exploring new products, designing them, creating samples, sculpting them
entirely by hand, pantographing them, and preparing them for decoration. The entire production is carried out entirely in
Florentine style, each piece is designed by one of our designers, and is
unique.
Design
Florence Art, with its in-house designers, sculptors, and carpenters, is capable of executing any
type of work, even not in Florentine style, as evidenced by some works done for luxury hotels.
On each item, Florence Art can make any modification and customisation, as well as
work for modification by the carpenter entirely by hand. In this way, the brand can furnish a bedroom, living room, bathroom, boiserie, according to your design.
Style
The Florentine style is identified by the way carving, finishing, and design
of articles are executed, and these features are typical only of the very small area that is Florence. Each item
made in Florentine style has carved parts but with a current, fresh, elegant taste; each
part is well "notched"; that is, they are well-defined, which harmonises with a classic yet
very youthful taste. The lines of the items are both elegant and romantic. Silver and
coloured and gold finishes make each line even more elegant and youthful.
Pattern and Sculpture
Sculpture is the result of an increasingly difficult-to-preserve legacy of Florentine traditions, distinguished by
grace, harmony, and is an element of enhancement and identification of the entire production line, and as is the case
in Florence, it cannot be mistaken for other geographical areas. Professional figures are needed
with great skills and design abilities and stylistic knowledge, such as the "sculptor," who
must create "models" of each item and then carve them.
The model is the part used to recreate the sculpture with a pantograph, and to first execute it, a scale drawing of the article is needed, then it is entirely hand-carved in wood. It is cut into pieces,
because the Pantograph works on pieces no wider than about 20 cm and about 190 cm in length. To work with
the pantograph, a "Pantographer" is needed, who will replicate the model in 16 or 24 pieces, and then "carpenters,"
but specialised ones, because they must know how to assemble the carved elements. Only these three professionals
make the production already more qualified and of greater value.
Decoration
Decoration, always entirely manual, becomes an even more qualifying element in various
finishes, those made in Florence are incomparable to those from any other geographical area:
The "gouache" decoration used throughout art history, from the Renaissance, which was born in Florence, and in
all other stylistic periods, concerns both gold leaf (e.g., Zecchino and Antique patina),
and Real Silver leaf finishes (Ghiaccio, Bianco, Consumato, Strappato), which could then
be Meccata (covered with a special, ancient colour, still used, Mecca, in
finishes, Mecca and MeccaAntica), to look like gold when in the past they did not have the money to
purchase real gold.
