Inspired by the timeless beauty of the untamed freedom of these majestic animals, Graf von Faber-Castell has created a new, truly exceptional Pen of the Year 2009, with a unique barrel made from woven horsehair – an unusual material, almost unheard of today.

To create the delicate form of the Pen of the Year 2009 barrel, the horsehair was specially selected for its structure, colour, and thickness. Then, 70 strands of hair underwent a meticulous weaving process. Strand by strand, a subtle wavy texture of the barrel was formed, with a varied structure and contrasting colour, creating a perfect composition with the platinum-plated finishes.

Each Pen of the Year 2009 is a unique work of art. For the most passionate enthusiasts, Graf von Faber-Castell offers the possibility of creating a Pen of the Year 2009 using hair from the tail of their own horse, upon special request. 

The craftsmanship and individual characteristics of each strand forming the barrel's texture make each Pen of the Year 2009 unique and unparalleled.

The ensemble is completed by a hand-crafted, gold, 18-carat, two-tone nib. The platinum-plated cap end protects the ink filling mechanism knob, engraved with the individual number of each Pen of the Year. The elegant, flexible clip is also noteworthy.

The Pen of the Year 2009 is presented in an exclusive wooden box with a beautifully prepared information brochure and a certificate of authenticity.
