Kenneth Cobonpue is a multi-award-winning designer and producer of exquisite furniture from Cebu in the Philippines. His journey into design began in 1987, studying industrial design at Pratt Institute in New York. During his studies, he completed a leather and wood workshop near Florence in Italy. He then studied furniture marketing and production at Export-Akademie Baden-Württemberg in Reutlingen, Germany. All of this was part of a private and state scholarship programme. Kenneth returned home to Cebu in 1996 to manage Interior Crafts of the Islands, Inc., a furniture design and manufacturing company founded by his mother Betty Cobonpue in 1972. 

Discovering that unconventional design could have a new face using natural fibres and materials, Kenneth created functional art pieces as an alternative to the Western definition of modern design. Today, the KENNETH COBONPUE brand has become globally renowned for its unique designs and a rich clientele, including Hollywood stars and royalty.

World designers 

Thanks to his masterful way of combining nature, traditional craftsmanship, and innovative technologies, designer and creative director Kenneth Cobonpue has gained international awards and recognition for his creative, eco-friendly, and expressive works. Collaborating with some of the world's leading designers, from local names to emerging talents, Kenneth started designing in the Philippines and shared his vision with a global audience. 

Numerous awards and recognition are his personal success. The five most important awards include the Japan Good Design Awards, the top prize in the Singapore International Design Competition, the Design for Asia Award in Hong Kong, the American Society of Interior Designers' Best of the Best, and the French Coup de Coeur award. His designs have been selected for several editions of the International Design Yearbook published in London and New York. The Phaidon book titled "& FORK" highlights Kenneth's position as a leader of a new movement embracing new technologies with craftsmanship. In 2007, TIME magazine called him "the first virtuoso of rattan". Kenneth was named Designer of the Year at the inaugural Maison et Objet Asia held in March 2014 in Singapore.
