Their passion for beautifully crafted Italian furniture begins with a deep respect for original craftsmanship and sophistication. This stems from the vast knowledge and skills passed down through generations of artisans. This is the key to international success, which undoubtedly includes recognition and respect from the most discerning clients. It is a tribute to the many people who have worked for this brand for 200 years!
A few words about history – because only then can we understand the essence of producing luxury Italian furniture in a classic style
The story begins in northern Italy in the small village of Casale di Scodosia, known for its woodcraft tradition. It is here that the Modenese Gastone luxury classic furniture factory is located. The factory is owned by the Modenese family, who have been in the wooden furniture industry since 1818. Family secrets and traditions have been passed down from father to son over 7 generations. So how did it all start?
In 1818, like most families in the area, the Modenese family established their own workshop and began producing what was needed in nearby communities and towns - wooden agricultural tools. This was the old-fashioned craftsmanship that was essential at the time. From this seed, great multi-generational manufactories were born. Their rhythm was set by simple tools and true craftsmen. After the Second World War, Modenese's production gained great popularity not only in the local market but also abroad, especially in Germany. The family has always remained faithful to their traditional style, even if the furniture produced changes slightly according to buyers' preferences. This truly shapes elite brands – consistency and tradition!
A very important factor behind Modenese's class is the three aspects that have remained unchanged for many years: Baroque classicism, solid wood as the primary material, and exclusively handmade production. This is their ABC and the foundation that ultimately determines where they are now and what they strive for.
Elegant classic-style furniture from Italy – changes after the fall of the Berlin Wall
Today, the brand's success is not only driven by Gastone Modenese's three sons: Renzo, Renato, and Francesco - but also his grandson Paride. They all unanimously continue the family's traditions and manage the factory. A significant milestone for the company occurred in the early 1990s when, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Modenese Gastone's production became known in Russia and the CIS countries. This allowed for increased recognition and the design of ever-new collections that conquer the world.
In recent years, the number of employees in the manufactory has increased, and it is now a team of young professionals who love Italian design and elegant interiors. Now Modenese Gastone is represented by people from 7 countries, and together they speak 16 languages. The Modenese company is a true heritage of Italian craftsmanship. A multi-generational brand producing top-class furniture for stylish interiors. Lots of classicism, opulence, beautiful fabrics, materials, and Baroque. That is Modenese.
Italian furniture for exclusive and classic living rooms – what does the production look like?
The production of furniture at Modenese Gastone involves the careful selection of high-quality wood and the precise processing of natural wood by our craftsmen. Only precious types of wood are used in the manufacturing process: noble species of cherry, walnut, oak, and ash; also, for inlays and veneers, only selected materials are used: burl (the part of the tree near the root), walnut, ash, mahogany, ensuring the furniture surface is elegant and refined.
In the next stage, experienced carpenters prepare the raw hand-carved furniture. The entire wood carving process is done entirely by hand using traditional carpentry tools. On the table tops, the front surfaces of consoles and other furniture parts feature charming inlays made from various materials: small pieces of different types of wood, marble, and mother-of-pearl are inlaid into the wooden surface, creating a beautiful palette of colours and a variety of wood textures.
The prepared unpolished, carved wooden furniture is sent to the lacquering workshop. During the staining and finishing of the furniture composition using special spray diffusers, craftsmen ensure that the colour matches the finish sample chosen by the client as closely as possible. The lacquered furniture then moves on to the next stage of drying.
It's time to add some glamour to the furniture using gold, silver, bronze, and other types of leaf. Throughout the entire production process, gilding is done by hand: craftsmen apply special adhesive to the decorated surface and cover it with a fine piece of gold (silver, etc.). Then, using a special stiff brush, the fine pieces of gilding are embedded into the wooden surface. Depending on the amount of sheen and density of the gold decoration desired by the client, craftsmen use from 2-3 to several dozen layers of gold in this procedure!
In the next stage of furniture decoration at Modenese Gastone, outstanding artists, graduates of the Venetian Academy of Fine Arts, hand-paint the furniture, bringing clients' deepest dreams to life. Classic Venetian pictorial scenes appear on wardrobe doors, and vibrant floral patterns bloom on table tops. Artists will draw on the furniture surface at the client's request.
After lacquering and decoration, all stylish sofas, exclusive armchairs, pouffes, chairs, bed headboards, as well as wall panels are upholstered with high-quality fabrics. Then all the furniture undergoes 3 phases of quality control. This ultimately delivers true and genuine luxury.
The quality of the wood, individual drying ovens for paints, artisanal carving processes, wood treatment, and the meticulous work of outstanding craftsmen and artists guarantee the highest quality of the final Modenese Gastone product!
