The history of MBM Billiardi begins in 1969, when the owner of the holding, Cav. Mariano Maggio was just 23 years old. After about two years of experience in the billiard industry as a salesman in the Lazio region for the company "Mari biliardi" based in Siena, he decided to start his own billiard business and opened the first small workshop, which was to become the largest billiard factory in Italy. "The first workshop was terrible..." recalls the owner. It was only four square metres, and the only equipment was a Black & Decker and a table made from wood waste from packages, while the workforce consisted only of a wood finisher... who was often absent.

From this small entity, a few years later, a larger space of 150 square metres was opened. Here, the first machines were used, and the focus was on the already made billiard tables with the intention of improving their quality. Soon after, the factory was moved to the Mandrione area in Rome, to a 400-square-metre space, where the production of new elegant billiard tables began. It was then that Cav. Maggio, along with a Milanese graphic studio and a group of lawyers and architects, developed the prestigious brand logo of the factory: MBM Billiardi (which stands for Mariano Maggio Billiardi).

The entire MBM Billiardi factory project is a special location, near Rome, close to the "Autostrada del Sole" motorway, between the Anagni and Colleferro exits. It is the result of comprehensive research conducted on the selection of the most efficient machines, many of which were designed and developed independently by MBM Billiardi. Only numerically controlled machines, capable of assembly and guaranteeing high-quality components, ensure the success of an exceptional product worthy of MBM Billiardi. The factory was inaugurated in 1995, coinciding with the start of the World Billiard Championships in Italy, in the city of Fiuggi, which initiated a tradition of great experiences for MBM. Therefore, only such an approach to table production yields the best results in the form of incredible precision in execution. And as we know, this is crucial in this game, as any curvatures are not advisable, especially on the product's surface.

Today, the factory remains the most popular company in the hi-tech industry, equipped with precise CNC machines, which, combined with the careful selection of raw materials and meticulous product testing, ensure the elegant billiard tables are of the highest quality and reliability. The MBM factory has been visited by world-renowned billiard champions who have appreciated the values and quality the company guarantees its products. Therefore, MBM's slogan is: "A billiard table cannot be bought randomly! Only MBM Billiardi guarantees art and technology." Naturally made in Italy.

What is the advantage of MBM Billiardi?

Their machine – the only one in the world, can make a billiard table into a perfect rectangle. Thanks to electronic systems, an ideal playing surface can be achieved. Designed by MBM Billiardi engineers, the only company in the world capable of performing such work, this machine combines the core of the billiard table, the slate, and the frame, performing two fundamental operations, transforming a simple wooden board into a highly precise billiard table. The first operation is the rectification and refinement of the slate to avoid ball friction. The second operation is aligning the billiard table to a square, achieved with a diamond tip that rotates around its perimeter and simultaneously mills the slate and frame, achieving perfection.

This machine sequentially checks all the elements of the billiard table and rejects those that are not in order. This system guarantees a complex mechanism of suction and seals, which only allows through those elements that are good according to the standard process and rejects unsuitable components. The machine is capable of precisely checking elements over three metres long. And this is the complete precision that gives the advantage of a perfectly even surface.
