Handmade round mirror for the living room - Ongaro & Fuga

We are pleased to present the exceptionally luxurious Ongaro & Fuga manufactory, founded in 1954 by Franco Fuga and his wife Tullia Ongaro. The combination of these two incredibly creative individuals brought a distinctive and fresh perspective to art. They proudly highlight that Ongaro & Fuga is a centuries-old tradition, through which they revive the magic and incredible Venetian mirrors.

Their talent was inherited by their son Julian, who continues the family traditions. By collaborating with international artists and designers, he creates a bridge to the future. This is a significant nod to family traditions and multi-generational manufactories. Julian believes that every cloud or colourful Italian facade reflected in the waters of the lagoon provides vibrant material for new projects. Many of these majestic mirrors are faithful reproductions of antique pieces. Ongaro & Fuga is part of the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano – a very important consortium that is a member of Confartigianato Venezia and Confindustria Venezia. For over twenty years, it has been continuously working to strengthen the image of artistic glass to preserve and defend the millennia-old art of Murano glass. This is an extremely important initiative that does a lot of good for cultural heritage. Ongaro and Fuga are proud of the Promovetro certificate for producing their mirrors in Murano.

How are these famous mirrors made?

This is an extraordinary product in its essence. The reflection of this beauty is a very long process. A labour of hands, heart, and soul. For this reason, Ongaro and Fuga's artistic mirrors come at a price. The work involved often exceeds 100 hours and can consist of thousands of decorative elements. This is true luxury and an example of how strong European family manufactories are. Here, for centuries, it has been the craftsmen who stood behind the evolution of the premium industry, deciding with their hands the final appearance of the product. Everything begins with a drawing on paper. Then the glass is slowly adapted to the shapes. Using very delicately and smoothly diamond grinding stones. Step by step, refining sharp edges and irregularities. And so, from a brilliant idea, a luxurious harmony is created, combining tradition with modernity!
