Some of the most ambitious projects in a distinguished history, proudly presented by Montegrappa. The Brain Pen, is the new creation of the Italian manufacturer, resulting from a long collaboration with the leading authority in the field of intellect, Professor of Neurology Restak, author of over 20 books on the human brain.

To create a pen that represents the complexity of the organ it is dedicated to, Montegrappa designers drew inspiration from the brain itself. The connection between the brain and the pen, present in the process and art of writing as an extension of human ability to express oneself while using the brain, led Montegrappa to illustrate this direct intellectual and physical connection. This particular relationship is symbolically represented by the contrast between the basic elements of the pen's design serving as a parallel to the human body: the cap is elaborate and complex like the human organ of reason, while the barrel features simplicity befitting the human body.

A cross-section of the brain, based on an ancient illustration, adorns the top of the cap. Its covering represents neural folds, while the clip takes the form of the spinal cord. The pen features a spring mechanism and the tip of the clip is lacquered in red or blue to distinguish the fountain pen from the rollerball pen. The nib of the fountain pen is engraved with an image of a seahorse, which refers to the hippocampus, a major component of the human brain and the brains of other vertebrates. The hippocampus plays an important role in transferring information from short-term memory to long-term memory and spatial orientation.

Montegrappa is about producing exclusive creations of the highest quality, which in turn express so many emotions in the simple act of writing. Each Brain Pen comes with a copy of a book written especially for Montegrappa by Professor Restak.
