Description
Based on the iconic, limited 1930 Extra series, Montegrappa has paid tribute to the Italian flag with the Italy 150th Anniversary edition. Italy, known as a great country of antiquity, boasts a magnificent history, encompassing the Etruscan civilisation and the Roman Empire. It played a significant role in the Renaissance. Victor Emmanuel II became the first king of unified Italy in 1861, holding the title until his death in 1878. Marking a century and a half since his coronation, the Montegrappa pen in definitive colours is a symbol of unified Italy, Bandiera d'Italia, affectionately known as "tricolore italiano". This colour combination has become synonymous with Italy, found on cars, clothing labels, and restaurant menus. When we see the three vertical stripes of green, white, and red, regardless of context, our thoughts turn to Italy.
Article 12 of the Italian Constitution, approved by the Legislative Assembly on 22 December 1947, states that: "The flag of the Republic is the Italian tricolour. Green, white, and red, in three vertical stripes of equal dimensions" red and white of the Milan flag and green from the civic guard's uniform. In its early form, it also bore an emblem consisting of a laurel wreath adorned with a trophy of arms and four arrows, representing the four provinces that formed the Cispadane Republic. This banner evolved over two centuries into its current form, which was adopted on 1 January 1948, along with the promulgation of the Republican Constitution and the end of the Savoy dynasty's reign.
The three colours also adorn the commemorative pens based on the iconic Montegrappa 1930 Extra, finished in resin. For the 150th Anniversary of the Italian Flag, a limited collection of 1500 fountain and rollerball pens was released, with silver trim. Complementing the Silver Edition is another 150 fountain pens and 150 rollerball pens, finished with 18K solid gold trims.
Thanks to Montegrappa, the proud symbol of Italian style and creativity has been immortalised in a series of limited writing instruments. We can feel the closeness of this great country's history and inspire others with the possession of a luxury pen.
