The times we live in are marked by increased consumption. Therefore, the items we use daily hold no value for us other than their utility. Over the years, we often fail to show them the sentiment they deserve, replacing them with ever-newer models.
The philosophy of Berti Knives, a company producing exclusive knives for various uses, is different. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, this small workshop seems completely detached from the trends that have occurred worldwide over the years. Its key guiding principle is a commitment to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these experienced craftsmen.
The founders of the brand strongly reject the idea of mass production using random labour, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the knives produced. For this reason, the company's philosophy places special emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to any changes. They are very welcome, provided they bring elements consistent with the existing philosophy and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialised sections of craftsmen but are often carried out from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials - the blades are made of steel, while the handles are made from buffalo, bison, deer horns, or 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners encourage that their creations, although intended for everyday use, be treated with the respect they deserve, which guarantees their long-lasting durability. Each one is, after all, a small, unique artefact.
