Description

Pantokrator Christ on an extraordinary Icon!

In 1975, the small manufactory Creaciones Dangel was transformed into the company CREDAN, without forgetting the craftsmanship created by a carefully selected team of people. Since then, Credan products have been known and admired worldwide.

The quality of the raw materials used (including 24-carat gold), the refined design, and the incredible elegance have made the company's clients some of the most influential people from around the world.

The production process is time-consuming and laborious to ensure an amazing appearance and quality of workmanship, and the raw materials meet the highest quality standards - from gold, silver, copper to selected wood.

We would like to present to you the incredibly beautiful iconography of saints by Credan SA.

As Pantokrator, Christ is depicted standing or seated on a throne, with an open Holy Scripture in his left hand and his right hand raised in a gesture of blessing. The arrangement of the fingers refers to the Greek monogram of Christ: IC XC. Two fingers are joined: the thumb with the ring finger. This way, the index and bent middle fingers resemble the letters IC. The crossed thumb and ring finger, together with the little finger, form XC. This is not the only interpretation of the gesture; according to some theologians, the joined thumb and ring finger symbolize the dual nature of Christ: divine and human. Meanwhile, the joining of three fingers: the little, ring, and thumb symbolizes the Holy Trinity.

The book that Jesus holds in his left hand refers to his teaching mission. It usually features a quote from the Gospel according to St. John: "Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment."

In the Orthodox tradition, the depiction of Christ as Pantokrator is most often placed on the ceiling of the central dome of the church. This tradition, dating back to the 11th-century Church, has symbolic significance. During the reign of the Macedonian Dynasty (867-1056), when iconoclasm ended, the art of the Church was revived in Byzantium. Even in those times, Christian temples began to be built with the idea of creating an "image of the cosmos." The placement of the Pantokrator icon on the central ceiling was meant to show Christ looking down on His world from above.
