The times we live in are associated with increased consumption. As a result, the items we use every day hold no value for us other than their utility. Over the years, we often lose the sentiment they deserve, replacing them with newer models.
In complete opposition to this state of affairs is the philosophy of Berti Knives, which produces exclusive knives for various uses. Established in 1895 by David Berti, this small workshop seems entirely autonomous from the trends that have prevailed worldwide over the years. Its most important guiding principle is a commitment to tradition, which is currently upheld by the fourth generation of these excellent craftsmen.
The founders of the brand strongly oppose the idea of mass production by random labour, which they believe would cause the identity of the knives to disappear. Therefore, the workshop's work philosophy places great emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to any innovations. They are indeed welcome, provided they bring elements consistent with the existing vision and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife creation are not handled by specialised groups of workers but are often carried out from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials - the blades are made of steel, while the handles are made from buffalo, bison, and deer horns, as well as 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners suggest that their creations, although intended for everyday use, should be treated with appropriate respect, which guarantees their longevity. Each one is, after all, a small, unique artefact.
